Building the Future of Distributed Engineers
We help companies move faster, spend less and build more, while improving global social equity through exceptional offshore development teams.
OUR VISION
We’re closing the gap, one partnership at a time
AphraDev exists to help companies establish offshore development offices that deliver exceptional engineering talent at sustainable costs, while creating meaningful opportunities for skilled engineers globally.
This isn't about replacing teams or cutting corners. It's about building sustainable, high-performing engineering organizations that can execute on ambitious technical visions without burning through runway.
When companies can afford to hire all the engineers they need, they build better products. When talented engineers worldwide can access great opportunities, they build fulfilling careers. That's the future we're creating.
Technology companies face a simple yet difficult challenge: building great products requires great engineers, but US hiring costs have made sustainable scaling nearly impossible. At the same time, brilliant engineers around the world are ready to contribute to ambitious technical challenges, but lack access to opportunities.
WHAT DRIVES US
We started AphraDev because we believe in a few fundamental truths about building great engineering teams.
Teams win. The best products come from groups of talented people working toward a unified goal. We've seen firsthand how distributed teams, when built correctly, outperform traditional models. Geography doesn't determine capability, and diverse perspectives create better solutions.
Purpose matters. We've spent our careers helping engineers find roles where they can do their best work. There's nothing more rewarding than connecting someone with an opportunity that changes their career trajectory. When you build systems that help people find their professional calling, you create value that compounds over time.
Hard problems are worth solving. Establishing offshore development offices is complex. It requires technical expertise, operational rigor, legal knowledge, and cultural intelligence. Most companies struggle through it alone, making expensive mistakes along the way. We've solved these problems repeatedly across multiple countries and team sizes. We know what works.
Excellence is in the details. Building distributed engineering teams requires precision. The difference between success and failure often comes down to communication protocols, documentation standards, and thoughtful process design. We're obsessed with getting the details right.
What keeps us calm under pressure? Years of experience navigating ambiguity. What makes us curious? Knowing that every company's situation is unique and requires tailored solutions. What makes us optimistic? Watching teams succeed when they have the right foundation and support.
Our Core Values
Communication: Distributed teams live or die by communication quality. We establish clear protocols, create robust documentation, and build systems that work across time zones. Ambiguity is the enemy of distributed work, so we help you eliminate it.
Objectivity: Every company's situation is different. We don't push cookie-cutter solutions. We assess your actual needs, recommend what will work for your specific context, and tell you when something isn't a good fit.
Honesty: Offshore expansion isn't right for everyone, and not every location works for every company. We're direct about challenges, realistic about timelines, and transparent about costs. Trust is built through candor, not overselling.
Tenacity: Building offshore teams requires persistence. Legal complexities, recruiting challenges, cultural integration, unexpected obstacles. We've navigated all of it. When problems arise, we solve them. We don't give up when things get difficult.
Execution: Strategy without execution is just conversation. We deliver. Project plans get completed on schedule. Hires get made. Offices get opened. Systems get built. We measure ourselves by outcomes, not intentions.
OUR COMMITMENT TO CLIENTS
When you work with AphraDev, you get more than consulting advice. You get partners who've lived through what you're about to experience.
We've personally hired hundreds of engineers. We've built infrastructure that scales. We've launched products that handled billions of requests. We've navigated the legal complexities of employment across multiple countries. We've integrated offshore teams into US-based engineering cultures. We've made the mistakes so you don't have to.
Our commitment is simple: we help you build offshore development offices that actually work. That means technically capable engineers who integrate seamlessly with your existing team. It means cost savings that materially extend your runway without compromising quality. It means legal compliance and operational excellence from day one. It means teams that scale sustainably as your company grows.
We succeed when your offshore office becomes a competitive advantage, not an operational burden. When your engineers (both US and offshore) are excited to work together. When your CFO sees the financial impact. When your CTO trusts the quality of work being delivered. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.
Andrew brings over 15 years of engineering leadership experience as CTO at multiple bay area startups, alongside roles managing AI infrastructure at Meta and leading the infrastructure launch for Pokemon Go. He has personally hired hundreds of engineers and built distributed teams across multiple continents, navigating the challenges of scaling technical organizations from startup through high-growth phases. His expertise spans building scalable infrastructure, recruiting top engineering talent, creating strong technical cultures, and distinguishing functional distributed teams from dysfunctional ones.
Amber combines over 15 years of technical depth, operational excellence, and legal expertise with hands-on experience scaling distributed teams. She scaled a 100+ person distributed team from startup to $3M ARR in one year, led global cross-functional teams at LinkedIn, and founded two successful companies staffed with remote contributors worldwide. Her experience as CEO at Emprove, COO at Therma, and in product, marketing, and web development roles at LinkedIn, One Medical, and CoInspect gives her a unique ability to ensure offshore initiatives are technically sound, operationally efficient, and legally compliant through robust asynchronous communication frameworks, documentation systems, and performance processes.
Together, we bring decades of proven expertise building and scaling distributed teams across Asia, Europe, the UK, and Latin America. We've navigated the complexities, made the mistakes, and figured out what actually works. Now we help companies avoid the painful learning curve and build offshore operations that succeed from day one.
